Serpentine Gallery- Lygia Pape- Magnetized Space
This was my favourite instillation piece from this trip, and probably from all the exhibitions I have seen so far. I loved how it was such a simple idea, about hanging threads, but it was extremely powerful. It created optical illusions which meant I could stare at it for ages, and it changed as you moved around the piece. This is the artwork that inspired me to have a go at larger instillation pieces.
I also loved her work because it is so versitile, she has this piece, smaller instillations, drawings, paintings, and videos. This is why I love fine art, the area of experimentation is so varied, that it allows for exciting and versitile pieces of artwork, that to me are very inspiring and make me want to develop my own practice.
